180 Makeover - 9 West Main Mooresville

Overview

Mooresville is in the process of upgrading Main Street from Monroe Street to Maple Lane. The construction on this project is anticipated to be completed in 2025. Harris and Currens Law Firm is in the heart of this area at 9 West Main and the building is over 100 years old. The building has structural issues that are causing it to shift toward Main Street. Addressing the structural issues keeps the core of Mooresville intact and protects the investment the Redevelopment Commission is making in Main Street. The owner of the building is putting in substantial investment to keep the building viable well into the future and the town supports his efforts to both preserve his building and protect their investment. The READI funds will be used for removing and replacing the bricks on the Main Street facing building facade down to the beams to allow for reinforcement and rebuilding. The owner has been advised to address the structural concerns immediately. The anticipated timeline is March 2024 to September 2024.. The construction work will be bid by the Town of Mooresville and the construction contract will be between the town and the vendor with permission of the property owner. The property owner will pay half the costs of the project and all pre-construction costs. Matching funds will be provided by Harris and Currents and the Mooresville Redevelopment Commission.
